Enforcement Center --> Fleet and Freight Management Center:
information on violators

Definitions

information on violators (Information Flow): Information on violators provided by a law enforcement agency. May include information about commercial vehicle violations or other kinds of violations associated with the particular entity. The information may be provided as a response to a real-time query or proactively by the source. The query flow is not explicitly shown.

Enforcement Center (Source Physical Object): The 'Enforcement Center' represents the systems that receive reports of violations detected by various ITS facilities including individual vehicle emissions, lane violations, toll violations, CVO violations, etc.

Fleet and Freight Management Center (Destination Physical Object): The 'Fleet and Freight Management Center' provides the capability for commercial drivers and fleet-freight managers to receive real-time routing information and access databases containing vehicle and/or freight equipment locations as well as carrier, vehicle, freight equipment and driver information. The 'Fleet and Freight Management Center' also provides the capability for fleet managers to monitor the safety and security of their commercial vehicle drivers and fleet.

Communication Solutions

  • (None-Data) - Secure Internet (ITS) (32)
Solutions are sorted in ascending Gap Severity order. The Gap Severity is the parenthetical number at the end of the solution.

Selected Solution

(None-Data) - Secure Internet (ITS)

Solution Description

This solution is used within Australia, the E.U. and the U.S.. It combines standards associated with (None-Data) with those for I-I: Secure Internet (ITS). The (None-Data) standards include an unspecified set of standards at the upper layers. The I-I: Secure Internet (ITS) standards include lower-layer standards that support secure communications between ITS equipment using X.509 or IEEE 1609.2 security certificates.

Interoperability Description
Regional Interoperability throughout the geopolitical region is highly desirable, but if implemented differently in different transportation management jurisdictions, significant benefits will still accrue in each jurisdiction. Regardless, this Information Flow Triple should be implemented consistently within a transportation jurisdiction (i.e., the scope of a regional architecture).

Rating High Moderate Moderate
Basis Contains PII and violation information, that if disclosed to parties other than the destination could provide leverage (business or personal) over the commercial vehicle. Should be correct due to actions that may be taken as a result of this information. Corruption or modification of data may lead to actions taken against parties that should not be acted against, or a lack of action against someone that should be penalized. Such actions likely limited in scope and certainly limited in targets, thus MODERATE. CV operations generally should be kept up to date on violations so they may response appropriately. Lack of this flow will delay those actions, but the consequences of such while significant are unlikely to be catastrophic.
