10.5.1.4: Manage Personal Device Applications

This process shall monitor the software configuration and device integrity for applications running on personal information devices such as those worn or carried by personnel working for the center organization. This will support maintenance of each instance of the software that is running in the connected vehicle environment in support of one or more applications. This process shall receive status and fault data either directly from the devices or through a separate service monitor function. This process shall maintain a store of configuration data concerning the devices, the installed software, and updates to the configuration. This process shall work through another function to present data and status to an operator or to accept inputs and changes from the operator. Upon identification of actions required, usually by a center operator, this process shall determine the address of the device to which software must be loaded and initiate the software installation process. This process shall monitor the status of the application software installation and update the system configuration tables when the installation is complete to indicate what software, what version, is running on what devices. Periodically, this process shall receive status on the health of the deployed software including statistics on resource consumption (processing, memory, storage). As updates to the fielded software become available, this process shall initiate the downloading of the software update along with any system configuration instructions, e.g. take system offline before installing, reboot the system after installing, inform center when complete, etc.
